Read the Tag on a North Face Jacket

North Face gear has been available to outdoor enthusiasts since 1966. Explorers of both poles, hikers in the Himalayans, and other extreme adventurers often rely on North Face to keep them warm and dry in the harshest conditions. North Face offers a line of jackets that can provide you the protection you need, no matter what adventure lies before you. The high quality materials and durability of a North Face jacket come with a significant price tag. It's a good investment, but that also means that you want to take good care of your jacket so that it can last you a long time.

Step 1Locate the product care tag attached to the interior lining of the jacket. Look along the waist seam. In most North Face jackets, that is where you will find it.
Step 2Read the instructions in English from the top down, use the symbols, or read them in Spanish.
Step 3Follow the instructions carefully. Be sure to read the special instructions before cleaning the jacket. The tag lists washing instructions followed by drying instructions followed by special instructions. For example, a Gore-Tex jacket needs to be washed in cold water using the gentle cycle and a powdered laundry detergent. It needs to be rinsed twice and then dried on a low setting. You should not use bleach or fabric softeners on Gore-Tex. You can find all these instructions---or instructions specific to your jacket---in list or picture form on the tag.
